Elements of Soulful Reflections:

Simple Ways to Reflect God’s Love

“To love others as God loves you, that is the measure of success.”

-Mother Teresa

Ways One can Show Love:

  1. Be kind and treat others with love and compassion.
  2. Listen to others in their times of rejoicing or mourning.
  3. Pray for others.
  4. Forgiving others as God forgave us; unconditionally.
  5. Helping others when the opportunity arises.
  6. Telling others about God and His love for them; ministering to the world.
  7. Being present and available as a friend, family member, or even an acquaintance.
  8. Encourage others and building one another up.
  9. Offering encouragement, support, and truth.
  10. Giving gifts. This can be for a special occasion, or completely spontaneous. Sometimes the best gifts are unexpected. Gifts can even be a favor or your own creative form of appreciation.

Why portray Love?

In 1 John Chapter 4, it is written that God lives in us, and He is love, that whoever lives in God, lives in love. There’s so much power in sharing that type of love. Demonstrating love in every circumstance changes the outcome of so many situations for the simple fact that we react with kindness and compassion. We were created to live in unity and peace with one another, bearing up one another and building each other up in love. No one on this earth truly knows what another individual may be going through and to know the difference you could be making in someone else’s life should motivate us all to handle any circumstance with love and grace. If you’re having a hard time finding love in your heart or for others, pray for the Lord to soften your heart and to fill you spiritually. I at times have felt depleted from all my duties as a mother, wife, friend, relative, and coworker. When that happens, I don’t always go to the right recourses to be spiritually fed like I truly need in order to continuously return that Christ-like love to others. This is one of the most important times to spend quality time with Jesus. Love is one of the most powerful ways we can lead others to Christ because our love for others reflects our Savior and His love for us. Showing love to the world ultimately fulfills the Law. For Romans 13:8 says: “Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.” There will be times where others will not show you the same kindness, but that’s when we pray for God to move in them. Even in the hardest of hearts, love can plant a seed. God works in miraculous ways. Don’t ever stop being love in this world because it’s your love that makes all the difference.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Colossians 3:14 “And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in unity.”

Romans 12:9-10 “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.”

Corinthians 13:13 “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

Ephesians 4:2-3 “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-5 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”

Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”

Proverbs 10:12 “Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.”

Proverbs 17:17 “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”
